If the charging socket on your car looks like this (view connector types at bottom of this page) your car is equipped with a J1772 / Type 1 socket. This is common in EVs from Asia and America including the Nissan Leaf, eNV200, Mitsubishi iMiev and Outlander, Holden Volt, Audi E3 E-tron, BMW i3 and plug-in hybrid. We always advise you to check what is actually on your car with the connector type images before purchase as makes and models can vary.

In order to charge at most public charge points in NZ you will need a Type 2 to Type 1 charge cable (also called a Type 1 to Type 2 charge cable!). All public EV charge stations in NZ have Type 2 sockets.
