If the charging socket on your car looks like this your car is equipped with a Type 2 (Mennekes) socket.

This is common in European EVs and is becoming the standard choice for many manufacturers including BMW, Audi, VW and Mercedes. New Zealand new Renault Zoe, Kangoo and Tesla cars imported from UK or Australia. We always advise you to check what is actually on your car with the connector type images before purchase as makes and models can vary.

If you have a type 2 connector on your car, in order to charge at most public charge points in NZ you will need a Type 2 to Type 2 charge cable. All public EV charge stations in NZ have Type 2 sockets.
